2023-2024 Classes

Registration is for a full year of classes, September through April. There are four hours of instruction for each month's tuition. Not all hours in a tuition month will fall in the same calendar month; for example, this year November has five Wednesdays and Thursdays. One hour classes meet every week. Two hour classes meet every other week.

 Class information
 
 Level one teaches foundational skills including
  • familiarity with the sewing machine and sewing tools
  • fabric selection and preparation
  • pattern placement. pinning and cutting
  • measuring seam allowances
  • casing construction
  • hemming
  • top stitching
  • trim application
     
 Level one projects include
  • wrap around skirt
  • tunic dress
  • pajama pants and top
  • peasant style night gown
  • elastic waist skirt with trim
  • blouse with ruffle sleeves
  • projects for boys are available!
 
 Level two teaches more advanced skills including
  • use of bias tape
  • hand stitching
  • ruffle application
  • buttons and button holes
  • sewing with knits
  • set in sleeves
  • zipper application
     
 Level two projects include
  • drop waist pants
  • cuffed knit pants
  • vest and skirt
  • knit tunic top and leggings
  • sun dress
 
 Students are encouraged to add embellishments (ribbon, buttons, yoyos, etc.)   to make each project their own unique creation. Craft patterns and doll clothes (made to fit 18 inch dolls) are also available.
